Zoology Department
About The Department
The department of Zoology came into existence along with the departments of Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics & English due to public demand as the locality with a population of around 3(three) lakhs was being deprived of a single higher educational institution offering science subjects. Mr. Ratul Chandra Bharali took charge of the department as founder teacher in the year and started Higher Secondary classes with 10 students. The department has been affiliated with Gauhati University since 1999. The department was accorded Part-I & Part-II concurrences by the Government of Assam in the years 2005 and 2008 respectively. The teaching strength of the department was enhanced with the joining of Mrs. Gitu Borah in the year 2003. The department has been offering Non-CBCS & CBCS courses as per the guidelines of Gauhati and Bodoland University. Presently, the department is affiliated with Bodoland University. The present faculty strength of the department is increased to 4(Four) from the services of 2 (two) more teachers on a contractual basis.
Now, the department is offering Four Year Degree Course following National Education Policy, 2020 with satisfactory faculty strength and infrastructure.

- Generating scientific sensibilities towards the biosphere that would fulfil the urge of future generations.
Mission:
- To offer advanced, career-oriented professional knowledge, employability and life skills, as well as inculcating a vision of community growth and development with strong ethical values.
The Department is engaged in providing learning and research opportunities in the following thrust Areas: Conservation of the gene pool of North East Region. In addition, Skill Enhancement Courses are being offered.
